India & You - Managing a Business Across Time Zones

India and You – Managing a Business Across Time Zones

If you are someone sitting in New York, you’ll need to take a 15+ hour flight around the world to reach India. If physical distance is concerned, India is a long way away. Thankfully, technology has brought us much closer, so much so that irrespective of where we are in the world we can easily fit into a single Zoom meeting.

But you can’t do much with time zones. When it’s early morning for you, it’s time for us to call it a day here in India. The good thing is that there is still significant overlap in our day – which means we can still collaborate by sitting in two opposite parts of the world.

Depending on which part of the work you are based in, here’s an easy table to help you figure out the common times you can use for collaboration –

Japan9am to 5pmJST

For the sake of standardization, we are considering working hours to be 9am to 5pm. However, we do realize that different countries or companies might have different work cultures and the typical 9 to 5 might not hold true for everyone. This table is only meant to serve as a guide.

The beauty of working with global remote teams is the flexibility that comes with it. While you may need to have early morning or late night meetings once in a while, it’s worth it. With global teams, work never stops. While your workday is about to end, someone else is waking up on the other side of the world, ready to get to work. It’s 24/7 well oiled machine and an efficient cum proven way of improving your ROI.
